Family history

George Henry Marshall was born in 1890 at Mapperley, Nottingham, he was the son of William Arthur and Margaret Annie Marshall. née Eccleston.

His father William was born in 1855 at East Leake, his mother Hannah Ecclestone was born in 1855 at Ellen Hall, Staffordshire, they were married on 4th February 1879 at St Ann's, Nottingham, they had a further son William Arthur born 1884 and a daughter Mary born 1882

In the 1911 census George Henry 20 yrs a carter he is living at 97 Morley Ave, Mapperley he is living with his older brother William Arthur 27 yrs a domestic coachman and his wife Margaret Annie 25 yrs.

He was the husband of Rose Maud Henley (born 27th August 1886 ) whom he married in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 15 Wycliffe Grove Mapperley Nottingham. they had a daughter Joan Irene Marshall born 26th November 1916.

Commencing 13th May 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military history

Gunner George Henry Marshall enlisted at Nottingham, he served with 'C' Bty 62nd Bde Royal Field Artillery he was killed in action on 13th October 1917 and is buried at Larch Wood (Railway Cutting) Cemetery, Belgium
