Family history

Henry Hicks was born in 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of Herbert a tripe salesman and Emma Hicks née Bouch of 158 Sandford Road Mapperley Nottingham.

His father Herbert was born in 1869 at Nottingham, his mother Emma Jane Bouch was born in 1867in Wisbech, Cambridge, they were married on 27th March 1886 in St Ann's they went on to have 7 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 5 Millstone Lane, Nottingham Herbert 42 yrs is a tripe salesman, he is living with his wife Emma 44 yrs who is assisting him in his business, they are living with their children, Alice 20 yrs a blouse machinist, Minnie 18 yrs a box maker, Henry 16 yrs a grocers assistant, Bertie 14 yrs, and Arthur 9 years of age.

At the time of Henry's death in November 1918 his parents were living at 5 Millstone Lane.

Military history

Air mechanic Henry Hicks served with 153 Squadron, Royal Air Force, he died on 24th November 1918 at Hainault Aerodrome, Essex of of septipneumonia and is buried in Nottingham Church Cemetery.
