Family history

George Edward Haslam was born on 12th December 1889 at Padham, he was baptised on 2nd January 1890 at Padham, he was the son of George Haslam a colliery stoker and Elizabeth Haslam née Cockshutt of 6 The Orchard Gedling Nottingham.

His father George was born in 1869 at Salford, Lancashire, his mother Elizabeth Cockshutt was born in 1868 at Padham, they were married on 3rd August 1889 at Habergham All Saints Church, they had a further child Florrie b1899 at Accrington.

In the 1901 census the family were living at 59 Grange Street, Accrington

It has not been possible to find the family on the 1911 census.

Military history

Private George Edward Haslam enlisted at Burnley whilst resident at Gedling, Nottingham, he served with the 6th Battalion East Lancashire Regiment, he died of wounds in Mesopotamia, his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
