He was baptised Edward Brace Farnsworth on 6th January 1884 at Ironville in Derbyshire and was the son of John a groom and Frances Sarah Fletcher of 40 Birrell Road, Nottingham.
His father was born at Ironville in 1843, his mother at Pentrich, Derbyshire in 1845. they were married on 21st April 1869 in Derbyshire, they had five children four surviving infancy – Harriet b. 1871, John b. 1874, William Fletcher b.1875 Lucy Elizabeth b1879 and Edward Brace b.1884.
In 1911 they lived at 40 Birrel Road, Nottingham. John 37 was a pork butcher and William Fletcher a baker.
Edward Brace married Ethel Huson (born 27th December 1885) on 12th April 1911 at All Souls Church, Radford, Nottingham and they lived at 138 Carlton Hill Nottingham they had children Doris Annie born 26th August 1912 and Muriel Norah (Bunty) born 22nd May 1915.
Commencing 21st April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shilling and 5 pence a week.
Ethel inherited Edward’s effects of £329/12/7d (Probate Nottingham 28/3/1919)
Private Edward Brace Farnsworth enlisted at Carlton Nottingham he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died in captivity of 'darmkatarrh' enteritis on .12th July 1918 at Dulman prisoner of war camp, and is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery..

'FARNSWORTH. – In loving memory of my dear husband, Pte. Edward Brace Farnsworth, 7th Sherwood Foresters, died at Dülmen Camp, Germany, July 12th, 1918. A day of memories. – Wife and daughters, Doris and baby Bunty.'
