Family history

Charles Frederick Brewster was born in 1887 at Landour, Bengal India, he was the son of Charles Frederick Brewster an army pensioner and the late Agnes Brewster née Claringbound of London Street, Swaffham.

His father Charles Frederick he was born in 1856 at Beyton, Suffolk, his mother Agnes Claringbound was born in 1852 at Alkham, Kent, they were married in 1886 at Norfolk, they had 5 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census his parents are living at London Street,Swaffham, Charles Frederick 55 yrs is an army pensioner and caretaker, he is living with his wife Agnes 58 yrs and their daughter Henrietta 17 yrs a dress maker.

Charles Frederick married Minnie Laura Marks (born 27th February 1888) on 13th April 1913 at Swaffham, they lived at School Street, Swanwick, Alfreton, they had 2 children, Charles Frederick born 17th December 1914 and Vera Agnes born 10th April 1916.

Commencing 6th May 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 30 shillings and 5 pence a week at this date she was living at 13 Yarboro Terrace, Lincoln.

Military history

Acting Company Sergeant Major Charles Frederick Brewster enlisted at Swaffham whilst residing at Mapperley he served with the 10th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he died of wounds on 21st October 1917 and is buried at Solferino Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
