Family history

Charles John Talbot was born on 1st July 1879, he was baptised on 27th July 1879 at Barrow on Trent, Derbyshire, he was the son of Richard a carter and Madeline Talbot née Jackson and the brother of Dennis Talbot.

His father Richard was born in 1850 at Ordsall, his mother Madeline Mary Marriott Jackson was born in 1859 at Northampton, they were married in 1876 their marriage was recorded in the Newark registration district, they had a further son Dennis Kirkby Talbot born 1877 at Newark.

In 1891 they lived at 3 Norman Place Alfred Street North Nottingham.

Military history

Private Charles John Talbot enlisted in New Zealand, he was living at Fitzroy House, Wakefield Strret, Auckland, he embarked from New Zealand on 16th October 1914 for the Suez Canal. He served with the Auckland Regiment New Zealand Expeditionary Force. He was killed in action on 25th April 1915 and is buried at Walker's Ridge Cemetery, Anzac, Gallipoli.
