Thomas Grantham was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was baptised on the 14th October 1889 at St Johns Church (Leenside) Nottingham he was the son of the late Joseph Grantham a timberyard labourer and Lucy Brown (formerly Grantham) née Simpson and the brother of Emma and John Grantham. In 1901 they lived at Sneinton Nottingham.
His father Joseph Grantham was born in 1856 at Nottingham, he died in 1899 aged 43 yrs, his mother Lucy Simpson was born in 1858 at Nottigham, they were married on 26th March 1876 at St John's Church (Leenside) Nottingham, they went on to have 6 children.
In the 1911 census he is serving soldier in the 4th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, he is 23 yrs of age single and a riflemn he is in barracks in India.
Rifleman Thomas Grantham enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 4th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, he was discharged from the Army on 12th April 1920, his discharge address was Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham he was suffering from a gastric ulcer ,he died on 22nd June 1920 from gastric ulcer and perforation of the stomach. He is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery.
