Archie (Archibald) Cave was born during the fourth quarter 1894, he was the son of the late George William Cave a carter and coal merchant and Mary Ann Cave, née Roberts

His father George William was born in 1858 at Whaplode, Lincolnshire, he died in 1918 he was 60 yrs old, his mother Mary Ann Roberts was born in 1861 at Holbeach, Lincolnshire, they were married on 28th January 1880 at Holbeach, they had 6 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 6a Briar Street, Nottingham, George William 53 yrs a carter and coal merchant, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 50 yrs and their children, Nellie 19 yrs no occupation, Archie 16 yrs no occupation, George Knight 31 yrs a carter son in law, married daughter Annie Knight 29 yrs and George Knight 4 yrs and Arlod Knight 1 year old.

Military history

Driver Archie Cave enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st/1st Nottinghamshire Battery Royal Horse Artillery (T.F) Probably embarked at Avonmouth 9th April 1915 aboard SS Nitonian with rest of Battery

Arrived in Egypt 25th April 1915 he was killed in action at Palestine on 19th June 1918 he is buried in the Jerusalem war cemetery, Israel. Row O Grave 51
