Arthur Ernest Ward was born in 1899 at Nottingham, he was the son of Fred Ernest Ward a drapers traveller and Annie Louisa Ward of 45 Pyatt Street Nottingham. and later 50 Radford Boulevard, Nottingham.

His father Fred Ernest was born in 1875 at Nottingham his mother Annie Louisa Ward was born in 1875 at Nottingham, they were married C1897 they had 2 children.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 7 Neville Grove, Nottingham, Fred Ernest 36 rs is a drapers traveller, he is living with his wife Annie 36 yrs and their sons, Arthur 12 yrs a scholar and Albert 3 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Arthur Ernest Ward enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 7th battalion Leicester Regiment, he died on 14th October 1918, whilst a prisoner of war, he is buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France
