Family history

William Walton was born in 1882 at Harlaxton, he was the son of the late Charles Walton a stone manson and Maria Rule of Harlaxton.

His father Charles was born in 1842 at Sudbrooke, Lincolnshire, he died in 1888 at Harlaxton aged 46 yrs his mother Maria Rule was born in 1844 at Langham, they were married on 22nd February 1866 at St Andrews Chuch, Cambridge they went on to have 7 children,

William was the husband of May Cussell (born 5th May 1877 ) they were married on 29th September 1906 at St Saviours Church, Nottingham, he was the father of Mabel Walton born 14th April 1908 and William Arthur born 14th November 1911, they lived at 36 Byron Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 36 Byron Road, West Bridgford, William 29 yrs is a brick ayer he is living with his wife May 23 yrs and their daughter Mabel 2 yrs of age.

Commencing 3rd September 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shllings and 11 pence a week.

Military history

Private William Walton enlisted at West Bridgford, Nottingham, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Fresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 13th March 1917. he is buried at Sailly-Sallisel Briths Cemetery, France Grave Referenve: VI A 10
