He was the husband of Mary Hannah (née Jackson formerly Henerys) Ushon and the step father of Lizzie (née Jackson) Stainforth.
In the 1911 census Thomas Ushon 31 yrs a slater was lodging with his future wife Mary Hannah Henerys 39 yrs a beer house keper, who was listed as a widow at 18 Malt Mill Lane, Nottingham,
Thomas married Mary Hannah Henerys on 4th September 1911 at the Nottingham registry office, they were living at 30 Wilford Road, Nottingham.
At the time of his death his widow was living at 28 Haywood Street, Sneinton, she was awarded a pension of 15 shillings a week from 29th January 1917.
Private Thomas Ushon attested on 4th January 1915 at Nottingham, giving his address as 30 Wilford Road, Nottingham, he was 34 yrs and 9 months old, he was a slater, he was posted to the 13th battalion Durham Light Infantry, landing in France 12th October 1915. He was killed in action on 11th July 1916 and was buried in a 'small cemetery near road just s. of Fricourt 3 miles e. of Albert' (ASR) but the grave must have been subsequently destroyed because he is commemorated at Thiepval.
