Family history

William Henry Perry was born in 1896 at Nottingham, he was the son of Hannah Dignan (formerly Perry née Edwards ) of 19 Fox Road West Bridgford and the late Charles Perry a gold jeweller.

His father Charles Perry was born in 1863 at Nottingham, he died in 1909 aged 45 yrs, his mother Hannah Edwards was born in 1864 at Sheffield, they wre married in 1886 at Nottingham, they went on to have 5 children.

In the 1911 cenus the family are living at North Collingham, Nottinghamshire, his widowed mother has re married and is living with her new husband, Ernest Dignan 41 yrs an inpector and chief surveyor, she is shown as Hannah Dignan 45 yrs also living with them is Hannnah's children, Herbert Walter Perry 20 yrs a clerk in a motor garage, William Henry Perry 15 yrs no occupation listed and Phyllis Marion Perry 18 yrs no occupation listed, also shown as visitors are Phyllis Perry under 1 year old, Jessie Perry 24 yrs and John Charles Perry 24 yrs.

Military history

Private William Henry Perry enlisted at West Bridgford, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Forester Regiment, he was killed in action on 26th September 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial
