Robert Mullin (junior) was born in 1878 at Nottingham he was baptised on 21st July 1880 at St Pauls Church Nottingham, he was the son of the late Robert Mullin (senior) a rotary mill hand and Mary Mullin née Wilson of 34 Queen's Road Nottingham.
His father Robert Mullin (senior) was born in 1862 at Nottingham, he died in 1907 aged 45 yrs his mother Mary Wilson was born in 1861 at Nottingham, they were married on 28th September 1879 at St Pauls Church, Nottingham, they had 6 children,
In the 1911 census we find his widoed mother living at 22 Atlas Terrace, Kirkwhite Street, Nottingham, she is 50 yrs of age and is a cotton reeler, she is living with her children, Joseph 12 yrs a scholar Elsie 8 yrs and Herbert 5 yrs old and her widowed daughter Eliza Laxton 23 yrs and grandchildren, Ada Laxton 5 yrs, Elsie Laxton 2 yrs and Irene Laxton 1 year old.
In the same 1911 census we find that Robert has lef the family home, he is baording at 44 Clarence Street, Nottingham, he is 33 yrs of age and a carter, he is boarding with Edward Rayns 46 yrs a coal dealer and his family.
Private Robert Mullin enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action, 15th October 1916, aged 37, in the attack near Montauban, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
