John Henry Kemp was born in 1883 at Nottingham,
He married Edith Annie Atkin born 1883 at Nottingham, on 16th October 1915 at the Nottingham registry office, they lived at 5 Crocus Cottages, Goodhead Street, Nottingham, they had 2 children Edith Mary born 10th June 1907 and Doris born 8th May 1912, they later had a son John Henry born and died in 1917.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 39 Bertram Street The Meadows Nottingham John Henry 28 yrs is a general carter, he is living with his wife Edith Annie a hosiery overlocker and their daughter Edith Mary 3 yrs of age, also living with them is his mother in law Mary Ann Atkin 60 yrs of age.
Edith later lived at 5 Crocus Cottages Goodhead Street Meadows Nottingham.
Commencing 24th June 1918 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week.
Private John Henry Kemp was called up for service on 11th July 1916 at Derby, his address was 5 Crocus Cottages, Goodhead Street, Nottingham, he was 33 yrs and 120 days old, he was a carter, he was posted to the Lincolnshire Regiment his next of kin was his wife Edith Annie of the same address. He landed in France on 2nd May 1917 he was killed in action on 6th December 1917, he is buried at Orival Wood Cemetery, Flesquieres, France.
