Edward William Jackson was born in 1894 at Norwich he was the son of the late Frederick Jackson a bricklayer and Rose Hannah Jackson née Markham of St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham.
His father Frederick was born in 1859 at Wallington, Norwich he died in 1897 at Norwich he was 38 yrs of age, his mother Rose Hannah Markham was born in 1861 at Norwich, they were married in 1881 at Norwich, they went on to have 7 children, sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 238 St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham, Rose 50 yrs a widow is a shop manager, she is living with her children, Minnie 23 yrs a chocolate coverer, Ethel 21 yrs a blouse machinist, Beatrice 20 rs a lace finisher, Fred 18 yrs a bobbon and carriage hand and Edward 16 yrs a clerk.
Edward William was the husband of Ethel Copcutt (born 8th February 1893 New Willington, Chesterfield) they were married in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 10 Seymour Terrace, Carlton Road, and later 19 Holgate Road Wilford Grove Meadows Nottingham they had a daughter Roshannah Marjorie Jackson born 10th July 1916.
Commencing 31st March 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.
Private Eward William Jackson enlisted at Birmingham, he served with the 8th Bn Royal Berkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 27th August 1918 he is buried at Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval
