Ainslie Elliott was born Andrew Ainslie Elliott in 1886 at Alfreton, he was the son of the late Alfred Elliott a hosier and the late Hannah Fletcher of 'Prospect House' Swanwick Alfreton Derbyshire.
His father Alfred was born in 1835 at Swanwick, he died in 1906 aged 71 yrs, his mother Hannah Fletcher was born in 1844 at Swanwick, she died in 1903 aged 59 yrs,they were married in 1864 at Islington Register office, they went on to to have 9 children.
In the 1911 census he was living at 42 Ranby Road, Sheffield, he is 25 yrs old, he is single and is a clerk, he is living with Elizabeth Smith 56 yrs a widow and her daughter Elsie Smith 26 yrs (his future wife) and her son Fred Smith 25 yrs a railway clerk.
He was the husband of Elsie Smith (born 26th October 1884, ) they were married on 14th December 1911 at St Augstine Church, Sheffield, at the time of their marriage Andrew Ainslie Elliott was 25 yrs of age and a clerk he was living at Heage Road, Ripley, they went on to have a daughter Joan Elliott born 10th August 1914, they lived at 36 Henry Road West Bridgford Nottingham.
Commencing 20th March 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 16 shillings a week.
Sergeant Ainslie Elliott enlisted at Derby whilst residing at West Bridgford, he served with the 1st battalion Derbyshire Yeomanry he was killed in action on 22nd August 1915 whilst serving at Gallipoli, having no known grave hs name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli.
