George Edward Donson was born in 1892 at Langworth, Lincolnshire, he was the son of Edward a blacksmith and Mary Ann Donson née Greetham and the brother of Charles, Ethel May and Selina Donson.
His father Edward was born in 1862 at Branston, Lincolnshire, his mother Mary Ann Greetham was born in 1868 at Osbornby, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1888 at Sleaford, Lincolnshire, they went on to have 5 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 188 Middle Furlong Road, The Meadows, Nottingham Edward 49 yrs is a blacksmith he is living with his wife Mary Ann 43 yrs and their children, Charles 21 yrs a baker Ethel May 20 yrs,George Edward 18 yrs an assurance agent and Selina 14 yrs working on home duites.
George Edward was the husband of Clarice Mabel Kirkham (born 29th October 1892) they were marriedi in 1911 at Nottingham, of 44 Moreland Street Meadows Nottingham. they had the following children, Eileen born 11th June 1912, Eunice born 2nd December 1914 and Ralph Donson born 22nd May 1916.
Commencing 28th April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 29shillings and 7 pence a week. at this date she was living at 38 St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham.
Sapper George Edward Donson enlisted at Hucknall he served with the 48th Air Line Section, Royal Engineers, he was killed in action on 8th October 1918, he is buried at Bellicourt British Cemetery
