Family history

Horace Brent was born in 1886 in London, he was the son of the late James Benjamin Brent a zinc worker and the late Emily Adeline Brent née Wilkinson, of The Lodge South Woodham Ferris, Essex.

His father James Benjamin was born in 1842 at St Pancras, London he died in 1918 at Islington he was 77 yrs of age, his mother Emily Adelaide Wilkinson was born in 1849 at Clerkenwell, London, she died in 1920 aged 71 yrs, they were married on 7th February 1875 at St Lukes Church, Finsbury. they had 4 children.

In the 1911 census his parents are living at the The Lodge, South Woodham Ferris, Essex, James Benjamin 66 yrs a zinc worker is living with his wife Emily Adelaide 61 yrs.

In the same 1911 census Horace has left the famiy home he is living at 21 Fabian Road, Fulham, he is 29 yrs of age, single and a boots salesman, he is living with Annie Andrews 66yrs a widow and her family.

Military history

Private Horace Brent enlisted at Wilford, Nottingham, he served with the 1/4th battalion York and Lancaster Regiment, he was killed in action on 19th July 1917, his name is commemorated on the Nieuport memorial, Belgium.
