Family history

Arthru Wilfred Bolton was born in 1893 at Nottingham he was the son of Arthur a railway passenger shunter and Agnes Bolton and and the brother of Geraldine Bolton née Willberry of the Meadows, Nottingham.

His father Arthur was born in 1863 at Bingham, Nottinghamshire, his mother Agens Willberry was born in 1864 at Codsall, Staffordshire, they were married in 1887 at Nottingham they went on to have 6 children, sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood, their other surviving child was Geraldine Agnes born 1897.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 53 Crocus Street Meadows Nottingham Arthur 48 yrs is a railway passenger shunter, he is living with his wife Agens 47 yrs and his son Arthur 17 yrs a moulder at an iron foundry and daughter Geraldine Agnes 13 yrs of age

Military history

Private Arthur Wilfred Bolton enlisted and served initially with the service number 1545 in the South Nottinghamshire Hussars he later transferred to (413042) 897th Area Employment Coy. Labour Corps, he died on 14th January 1918 of spinal meningitis at Netley Hospital, Hampshire, he is buried at Netley Military Cemetery, Hampshire.
