Henry White (junior) was born in 1878 at Basford, Nottingham, he was the son of Henry White (senior) a carriage finisher and later a lace hand and Ruth White née Astle of 41 Birley Street, Stapleford.

His father Henry White (senior) was born in 1857 at Basford, his mother Ruth Astle was born in 1857 at Draycott, Derbyshire, they were married on 25th September 1875 at S Matthias Church, Sneinton, they went on to have 10 children,sadly 4 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 41 Birey Street, Stapleford, Nottingham, Henry White (senior) 54 yrs is a lace hand machinist he is living with his wife Ruth White 54 yrs and their children, George Samuel 25 yrs a lace maker, May Ruth 26 yrs a brass winder for a lace machine, Mable 21 yrs a dress mnaker and Hilda 17 yrs a brass winder for a lace machine.

Military history

Private Henry White enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Bulwell he served with the 2/6th battalion Shwerwood Foresters regiment, he was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)

Commemorated: Arras Memorial, France. Bay 7.
