Samuel Webster (junior) was born in 1894 at Kimberley he was the son of the late Samuel Webster (senior) a coal miner loader and Jane Webster née Hart of 59 Key Street, Bulwell.
His father Samuel Webster (senior) was born in 1861 at Kimberley he died in 1918 he was 57 yrs old, his mother Jane Hart was born in 1870 at Smalley, Derbyshire, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have 9 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at59 Key Street, Bulwell, Nottingham, Samuel 50 yrs is a coal miner loader, he is living with his wife Jane 40 yrs and their 8 children including Samuel Webster (junior) a coal miner loader.
Private Samuel Webster enlisted at Nottingham on 7th September 1914, he was 21 yrs and 120days old, he was a stone mason, he was initially posted to the Seaforth Highlanders and transferred on 10th September 1914 to the 8th battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 29th July 1915 he was wounded and missing later confirmed killed in action on 25th September 1916, having no known grave and is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial
