George Herbert Todd was born on 21st April 1897 at Bardney, Lincolnshire, he was the son of James a farm labourer and Martha Todd née Aisthorpe of 49 Monsall Street New Basford Nottingham and later 32 Northgate, Basford.
His father James was born in 1865 at Bardney, Lincolnshire, his mother Martha Aisthorpe was born in 1867 at Langton, Lincolnshire, they were married on 8th November 1888 at Bardney, Lincolnshire, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family were living at Cotham village near Newark, James 46 yrs is a farm labourer he is living with his wife Martha 44 yrs and their children including George 12 yrs a scholar.
Private George Herbert Todd enlisted at Newark, he served with the 7th battalion Norfolk Regiment, he died of wounds on 22nd December 1917, he is buried at Honnechy British Cemetery, France.
