Family history

Albert Henry Taylor was born in 1879 at Loughborough, he was the son of the late Henry Taylor a foreman at a dye works and Sarah Jane Taylor née Beeby of Leopard Street, Loughborough.

His father Henry Taylor was born in 1852 at Burham Market, Norfolk, he died prior to the 1911 census, his Sarah Jane Beeby was born in 1855 at Loughborough, they were married in 1877 at Loughborough , they went on to have 5 children, Elizabeth b1880, Wilfred b1882, Alfred Hall Taylor b 1885 (killed in action 30th October 1914) and Harriett b1889.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 55 Leopard Street, Loughborough, Sarah Jane 56 yrs is a widow, she is living with her children, Albert Henry 32 yrs a hosiery trimmer.

Military history

Private Albert Henry Taylor was called up for service on 22nd March 1916 at Nottingham, giving his address as 16 Jennison Street, Bulwell, he was 37 yrs and 119 days, he was a hosiery trimmer, he was posted to the 4t battalion East Yorkshire Regiment, he landed in France on 11th May 1916, he was repoted missing in action on 21st June 1918, he had been taken as a prisoner of war, he died in captivity on 18th September 1918 at Trelon, France. he is buried at Glageon communal cemetery extension, France.

Extra information

His brother Alfred Hall Taylor served with the service number 5305 in the 1st battalion king's Dragoon Guards, he was killed in action on 30th October 1914 aged 30 yrs, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate memorial
