George William Kirk Stansall was born in 1863 at Newark he was baptised on 6th December 1863 at Lowdham, he was the son of William Kirk Stansall a miller and Sarah Challand of Newark.

His father William Kirk Stansall was born in 1839 at Newark, he died in 1896 at Farndon he was 57 yrs, his mother Sarah Challand died in 1862 in Notingham. they had 2 further children, Kate born 1866 and Penelope born 1870.

He later married Harriett Annie Herring born 1862 at Nottingham, they were married on 26th April 1886 at St Marys Church at Newark

George William Kirk Stansall married Ellen Worthington in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 3 Malt Cottages Eland Street, Basford, and later 3 Garden Cottages, Park Street, Lenton

Military history
