Family history

John Richard Sharpe was born in 1874 at Cotgrave, he was the son of Thomas a groom and Mary Sharpe and the brother of William, Jane, Charles R and George H Sharpe.

He married Ellen Elizabeth Atkinson on 27th April 1901 at St Augustines Church, New Basford. In 1901 and they had 3 children Harriet May born 1911, Jack born 1913 and Leslie born 1917. They also had a child who died during infancy.

In 1911 they lived at 10 Rye Street Basford Nottingham. John Richard 38 yrs is a stableman he is living with his wife Ellen 32 yrs and 2 boarders.

At the time of his death his widow was living at 47 Wycliffe Street, New Basford, Nottingham

Military history

Transferred 345036 to 468th Home Service Employment Coy Labour Corps.

He enlisted 1st October 1914 and arrived in France 14th March 1915 and was discharged from the army 3rd June 1918. He was issued a silver badge number 393887 on his discharge.
