Family history

Bernard Salisbury was born on 9th March 1880 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Thomas a lace maker and the late Eliza Salisbury née Wright of 33 Palm Street, Basford, Nottingham.

His father Thomas was born in 1841 at Melbourne, Derbyshire, he died in 1900 aged 59 yrs, his mother Eliza Wright was born in 1845 at Nottinmgham she died in 1891 aged 46 yrs, they were married in 1862 at Radford, they went on to have 14 children, including Arthur William, Thomas Frederick, Ada Eliza, Mary Ann, Florence Charlotte, Albert Edward, Gertrude, Leonard, Sylvia, Neville, Ernest George, Maud and Ethel May .

In the 1911 census he is a lodger , lodging at 3 New Street, LongEaton, head of the housholdis Mary Bennett there are 17 males lodging at this address he is shown as being single 31 yrs of age a lace hand, hisdate of birth is 9th March 1880 at Nottingham.

Military history

Rifleman Bernard Salisbury enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Derbey, he served with the 10th battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps, he landed in France on 21st July 1915, he was killed in action on 2rd September 1916 havingno known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
