John Henry Parker was born in Marehay, Derbyshire, he was the son of Martha Elizabeth Sadler (formerley Parker) of Ladybrook Road, Basford and later 15 China Street, Bulwell, Nottingham

Private John Parker enlisted at Derby whilst residing at New Basford, he initially served with the service numb 55449 in the Shrewood Forester Regiment, he was serving with the 9th battalion Leicestershire Regiment when he died of wounds on 17th June 1917, he is buried at St Sever Communal cemetery, extension, Rouen
