John Noble was born in 1870 at Walsall he was the son of the late George Noble a coal miner and the late Selina Noble née Harris of Burgoyne Street, Hednesford, Staffordshire.
His father George was born in 1838 at Codnor, he died in 1913 at Cannock Staffordshire, he was 75 yrs of age, his mother Selina Harris was born in 1847 at Walsall she died in 1906 at Cannock she was 59 yrs of age, they were married in 1864 at Rushall, Staffrdshire, they went on to have 10 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early chilhood.
In the 1911 census his widowed father George is 74 yrs a retired col miner, he is living with his son Daniel 44 yrs a colliery labourer and his married daughter Hannah Pegg 30 yrs and son in law William Pegg 30 yrs a collier hewer they are living at Burgoyne Street, Wednesford, Staffordshire.
John married Claire Louise Fletcher (born 15th August 1873) they were married on 8th February 1896 at St John's Church, Bulwell, they had 7 children, sadly 1 was to die in infancy or early childhood, their children were Selna b1897, Frank b1898, George b1900, John b1902,Betsy b1905, Clara Louisa born 1907 and Jane born 1909.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 62 Bancroft Street, Bulwell, Nottingham, John 41 yrs is a coal miner hewere he is living with his wife, Clara Louise 38 yrs and their children,Selena 14 yrs a hosiery finisher, Frank 13 yrs a scholar, George 11 yrs a scholar, John 9 yrs, Betsy 6 yrs, Clara Louisa 4 yrs and Jane 2 yrs of age.
Commencing 22nd January 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings a week at this date she was living at 2 Rock Villas, Rock Street, Bulwell.
Private John Noble enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Bulwell, he served with the 8th battalion North Staffordshire Regiment, landing in France on 18th July 1915, he was killed in action on 6th July 1916 at the 38th casualty clearing station. he is buried at the Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L-Abbe, France
