Family history

Harold Inger was born on 18th December 1893 at Cinderhill, Nottingham, he was the son of John a coal miner hewer and Mary Ann Richards of 76 Highbury Road, Bulwell.

His father John Inger was born in 1870 at Awsworth, his mother Mary Ann Richards was born in 1870 at Kimberley they were married on 29th March 1890 at the Basford registry office, they went on to have 13 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 175 Coventry Road, Bulwell John 41 yrs is a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 41 yrs, and their 10 children, including Harold 17 yrs a coal miner pony driver (below ground)

Military history

Lance Corporal Harold Inger enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Bulwell, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died of wounds on 22nd December 1917 aged 24 yrs, he is buried at Abbeville Communal Cemetery Extension, France. Plot III. Row F, Grave 20.
