Howard Barlow was born in 1896 at Bulwell, he was the son of Walter John a coal miner hewer and Elizabeth Barlow née Foster and the brother of Everard and Oswald Barlow.of 257 Broomhill Road Bulwell Nottingham.
His father Walter John was born in 1862 at Somercoaes, Derbyshire, his mother Elizabeth Foster was born in 1856 at Holbrook, Derbyshire, they were married on 20th February 1890 at St Johns Church, Bulwell they had 3 children.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 257 Broomhill Road, Bulwell, Walter John 49 yrs os a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 55 yrs and their sons Everard 20 yrs an engine cleaner, Oswald 19 yrs a joint stores boy for a railway company and Howard 15 yrs a uniform office boy for a railway company.
Private Howard Barlow enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, aged 21, during the attack on the German positions near Wieltje, Belgium.
