Family history

Alfred Allcock was born in 1881 at Stoke Bardolph, Nottinghamshire he was baptised on 13th Febraury 1881 at All Hallows Church, Gedling he was the son of the late John Allcock a farm labourer and Eliza Allcock née Goodacre of Stoke Bardolph.

His father John was born in 1850 at Stoke Bardolph he died in 1906 aged 56 yrs, his mother Eliza Goodacre was born in 1851 at Burton Lazars, Leicestershire they were married in 1870 their marriage was recorded in the Melton Mowbray registration district, they have 5 children.

In the 1911 census the family livied at 30 Keys Street Bulwell Nottingham, Eliza Allcock 60 yrs is a widow she is living with ther son Alfred 30 yrs a brick layers labourer.

Military history

Private Alfred Allcock enlisted on 14th September 1914 at Nottingham giving his age as 30 yrs and 242 days , he was a miner he was posted to the Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France on 29th September 1915, he was wounded on 12th July 1916 and was returned to England on 16th July 1916. He returned to France on 23rd January 1917 he was killed in action on 24th September 1917, he is buried at The Huts Cemetery, Belgium.
