Claude Eugene Turton was born in 1887 at Nottingham, he was the foster son of Mrs Sophie Brewer of 60 Gladstone Street Hyson Green Nottingham.

He was lodging at 19 Silverdale Road, Basford, in 1911, he is 27 yrs of age and is a leather dresser in a skinyard.

Military history

Private Claude Eugene Turton, enlisted at Derby and served with the 2nd Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, landing in France on 8th October 1914, he was killed in action on 2nd October 1915. He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
