Wilfred Maurice Hopkin was born in 1899 the son of John Fenton Hopkin a billiard room keeper and Sophia Hopkin née Judd of 'Grove Mount' Mount Hooton Road Nottingham.

John Fenton was born in 1866 at Bulwell, Sophia Judd was born in 1868 at Nottingham, married on 25th December 1888 at St Augustines Church, Basford, Nottingham they went on to have 9 children.

In 1911 the family lived at Burnaby Hall House, Hyson Green, John Fenton is 45 yrs and a billiard room keeper he is living with his wife Sophia 43 yrs and their 9 children including Wilfred Maurice 12 yrs a scholar, also living with the family are 2 feamle servants.

Military history

Rifleman Wilfred Maurice Hopkin enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the Rifle Brigade, he died of wounds on 28th May 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial.
