Henry Charles Dickens (junior) was born in 1886 at Peckham, he was the son of Henry Charles Dickens (senior) a caretaker and his first wife Sarah Mollison Cox,
Charles Dickens (senior) was born in 1858 at Southwark, his mother Sarah Mollison Cox was born in 1858 in London, they were married in 1893 at London and had 3 children, Fred Cox born 1880, Henry Charles born 1886 and Alice born 1889.
His father married his second wife Kate Hodges born 1874 at Loughborough, they were married in 1910 at Nottingham.
in the 1911 census the family are living at Terrace Street, Hyson Green Nottingham, Henry Charles Dickens 53 yrs a caretaker, he is living with his second wife Kate 37 yrs a blouse hand and his children, Henry Charles 25 yrs a soldier (Grenadier Guards) and Alice 23 yrs a lace hand clipper.
Private Henry Charles Dickens enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Grenadier Guards, landing in France on 23rd November 1914, he was killed in action on 15th September 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
