Edwin Harold Codd was born in 1897 the son of late George Henry a joiner and Louisa Codd née Johnson of 16/18 Sneinton Road, Nottingham.
George Henry was born in 1858 at Wainfleet he died in 1907 aged 49 yrs, Louisa Johnson was born in 1857 also at Wainfleet, they were married in 1878 at St Andrews Church, Grimsby, they went on to have 9 children.
In the 1911 census the family lived at 64 Maples Street Nottingham Louisa 54 yrs is a widow she is living with her children, John Evelyn 17 yrs a cycle hand, Edwin Harold 14 yrs a cardboard maker and Clara Gertrude 20 yrs a milliner.
Driver Edwin Harold Codd enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Hyson Green, he served with the 402nd Battery, 14th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. He died of wounds on 8th October 1918 and is buried at Tincourt New British Cemetery
