Family history

Harold Branson was born in 1896 and was the son of Thomas Branson a structural engineer and the late Ethel May Branson née Shipstone. brother of Thomas Branson.

Thomas was born in 1874 at Hyson Green, Ethel May Shipstone was born in 1877 she died in 1899 aged 22 yrs they were married in 1895 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district.

In 1911 Harold Branson 15 yrs an engineers improver is living with his widow grandmother Jane Branson 77 yrs at 31 Forest Street Nottingham also living at the address is Thomas 12 yrs his brother.

Military history

Private Harold Branson enlisted 7th May 1915 at Nottingham giving his age as 19 yrs and 2 months , he embarked from Folkstone on 11th July 1916 landing the same day at Boulogne, France. He was killed in action, 8th October 1916, aged 20, whilst serving in the line near Grosville, France. he is buried at Bellacourt Military Cemetery, Riviere, France. Plot 1. Row H. Grave 9.
