Frederick Thomas Atkinson wasa born in 1896 at Islington, he was the son of Frederick William and Florence Annie Atkinson née Wright and the brother of William, Florence, George, Thomas, Harry and Hilda Atkinson.
His father Frederick William was born in 1869 at Islington, his mother Florence Annie Wright was born in 1873 also at Islington, they were married in 1895 at Islington, they had 8 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 6 Dursley Terrace, Hyson Green, Frederick William 42 yrs is a gas meter maker, he is living with his wife Florence Annie 38 yrs and their 7 children includiing Frederick 15 yrs an errand boy.
The family later lived at 28 Bateman Street Hyson Green Nottingham.
Private Frederick Thomas Atkinson enlisted at Nottingham on 27th May 1915 giving his address as 28 Bateman Terrace, Hyson Green, he was 19 year and 9 months old and was a newsagent, he served with the 16ty
h battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he went to France on 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, 8th October 1916, aged 21, during the attack on Schwaben Redoubt, near Thiepval, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
