Family history

He was the son of Celia (née Leavers, later Green) Allen and the brother of John (killed in action (5/11/1918) and Albert Arthur Allen. He was the half brother of Lucy, Annie Mary, Charles, Fanny, Robert and Frederick Green. In 1911 they lived at 1, Adams Cottages, Lindsay Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham with Celia's second husband George Green.

Military history

Private Leonard Allen enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 17th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, hHe died of wounds on 13th September 1916 and is buried Etaples Military Cemetery, France. Plot 10, Row D, Grave 5.

His brother Private John Allen enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 4th November 1914 with the 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died on 5th November 1918 of broncho pneumonia and is buried Etaples Military Cemetery, France. Plot 49, Row A. Grave 28additional
