Frank Muxton Rowe was born in 1884 at Attercliffe, Sheffield, he was the son of the late Thomas Rowe and Mary Ann Rowe née England.
His father Thomas was born in 1837 at Stewkley, Buckingham his mother Mary Ann England was born in 1853 at Sheffield, they were married on 1st October 1871 at Holy Trinity Church, Wicker, Sheffield. He had a brother Ernest born 1886 at Sheffield.
In the 1911 census Frank has left the family home, he is a boarder living at 12 Church Lane, Adwick Le Street, Doncaster he is shown as beinb 30 yrs and a coal miner he is living with Robert Woodward 33 yrs also a coal miner
Private Frank Muxton Rowe enlisted, aged 19 years and 6 months, on 23rd February 1903 at Chesterfield he served with the 1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment he was in Singapore from 12th December 1904 to 22nd December 1905.
He had malaria several times whilst serving in Singapore. From 1906 he was in the reserve.
He was recalled to the colours on 24th September 1914, he died of a gun shot wound to the abdomen.on 10th January 1915 and is buried at Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France.
He was under 5ft 3inches tall.
