Harry Warrener was born in Nottingham in 1888, the only son of George Warrener and Rebecca Warrener (née Sharpe).
His father George was born in 1862 in Rufford, Nottinghamshire, and his mother Rebecca Sharpe was born in 1858 at Mount Pleasant, Lincolnshire. They were married in 1886 (reg. Nottingham).
In 1911 George (49), a railway drayman, and Rebecca (53) were living at 18 Abbey Grove, Wells Road, Nottingham:
Harry had married Florence Simpson on 16 June 1907 (reg. Nottingham) and their daughter, Florence Constance Vera, was born on 4 July 1907.
By 1911 census the family was living at 48 Ball Street, Wells Road, Nottingham: Harry (23) was a goods railway porter, Florence (23) and their daughter Florence (3). The later CWGC record gives his widow's address as 30 Florence Street, Nottingham.
Private Harry Warrener enlisted at Nottingham on 10 December 1915. He was aged 28, occupation railway porter and living at 48 Ball Street, Wells Road, Nottingham. He named his wife Florence as his next of kin.
Harry was posted to the Army Reserve and not mobilised until 8 July 1918 when he was posted to the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters. He embarked at Dover on 30 October 1918 disembarking Calais the same day.
He returned to England on 9 March 1919 and was demobilised the following day, 10 March.
He died at 18 Abbey Gardens, Nottingham, his father's home, on 14 February 1919 from pneumonia and influenza. Harry was buried in Nottingham General Cemetery (grave ref. 5114 B).
He qualified for the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
