Family history

Walter Horace Pickbourne was born in 1897 at Nottingham, he was the son of George Henry a sinker maker and and Sophia Pickbourne of 29 Baden Powell Road Sneinton Nottingham.

His father George Henry was born in 1871 at Sneinton his mother Sophia was born in 1874 at Nottingham, they were married in C1893 they had a further child Louisa born 1894 at Nottingham.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 14 Davis Street, Sneinton, George 40 yrs is a sinker maker he is livibng with his wife Sophia 37 yrs and their children, Louisa 17 yrs a blouse maker up and Horace 14 yrs an errand lad.

Military history

Private Walter Horace Pickbourne enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion West Riding Regiment, he was killed in action and is buried at Sailly-Labourse communal cemetery extention France Grave Reference: B 2
