Frederick Marriott was born on 19th September 1896 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 3rd March 1897 at St Mary’s Church, Nottingham he was the son of John a bricklayers labourer and Selina Marriott née Bird of 21 Lomas Yard, Bellar Gate, Notingham.
His father John was born in 1857 at Nottingham, his mother Selina Bird was born in 1857 at Nottingham she was a lace hand, they were married on 17th April 1886 at St Jonn’s Church, Leenside, Nottingham, they went on to 4 children, William, Arthur and Harry.
Frederick’s pension card states his next of kin was his mother Selina Marriott of 3 Providence Place, Millstone Lane, Nottingham.
Private Frederick Marriott enlisted at Nottingham on 24th February 1914, giving his age as 17 yrs and 159 days, he was a beer bottler, he served with the 1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment landing in France on 28th November 1914, he was killed in action on 27th January 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, France.
