Henry James Deane was born in 1891 at Donnington, Lincolnshrie, he was the son of William Henry Deane, a journeyman baker and Alice Deane née Nichols of Nottingham.
His father William was born in 1863 at Marylebone, London his mother Alice Nichols was born in 1862 at Parsons Drove, Cambridge they were married on 14th January 1884 at Spalding Lincolnshire, they had 5 children.
Henry James married Mary Lizzie Swinton born 19th February 1892 they were married in 1910 at Nottingham and lived at 37 Sutton Street, Meadwos, Nottingham they had two sons Frank Henry Deane born on 7th May 1910 and George Arthur born 26th May 1913.
In the 1911 census Henry James is living at 5 Navarine Terrace, Nottingham, he is 20 yrs,a t card puncher in the lace trade, he is living with his wife Mary Lizzie 20 yrs and their son Frank Henry 7 months old.
Commencing 21st February 1916 his widow was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week.
His widow re married on 7th October 1916 to Charles Swinton.
Private Henry James Deane enlisted and served with the South Nottinghamshire Hussars
He died on 11th August 191 of actnomycosis a bacterial infection, he is buried in Belper Cemetery, grave ref 12069 (C).
