Family history

Harold Archibald Carver was born in 1894 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry Edward a lace factory worker and Elizabeth Carver née Metheringham of 74 Manning Street Nottingham.

His father Henry Edward was born in 1856 at Nottingham, his mother Elizabeth Metheringham was born in 1858 at Nottingham, they were married in 1877 at Nottingham, they went on to have 11 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 74 Manning Street, Nottingham, Henry Edward 55 yrs is a lace factory worker, he is living with his wife Elizabeh 53 yrs and their children, Harry 26 yrs a lace machine fitter, William Charles 23 yrs a printing machine fitter, James Gunn 21 yrs a lace machine worker, Harold Archibald 17 yrs a lace machine fitter, Ernest Leslie 12 yrs a scholar and Violet Amy 9 yrs of age.

Military history

Private Haold Archibald Carver enlisted at Nottingham he served with 1st Machine Gun Section, 9th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifle Corps, he was killed in action on 23rd August 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Belgium
