Thomas Henry Calow lived at 3 Lewis Street, Nottingham he was the son of Thomas James and Elizabeth Harriett Calow née Fisher of 47, Lewis Street Nottingham.
His father was born in 1868 at Derby he died in 1905 aged 37 yrs, his mother Elizabeth Harriet Fisher was born in 1869 at Nottingham, they were married in 1889 at Nottingham they had 5 children.
Following the death of his father his mother went on remarry John Wilson in 1908 at Nottingham,
In the 1911 census the family are living at 5 Cairns Square, Nottingham, Elizabeth Wilson 47 yrs is living with her children, Florence Calow 20 yrs an elecor plater, William 18 yrs a turner, Thomas Henry Calow 16 yrs an assistant tobacconist, Louisa 13 yrs an errand girl and Elsie 11 yrs of age.
Private Thomas Henry Calow enlisted at Nottingham on 6th Decemebr 1912 giving his age as 17 years and 9 months, he was an assistant tobacconist. He served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment and was embodied for war on 5th August 1914. He went to France on 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, 13th October 1915, age 20, in the attack on the Hohenzollern Redoubt, he is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
