Family history

John Henry Bradford was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was baptised on 24th April 1898 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton he was the son of Henry John Bradford a lithographic printer and Clarice Bradford née Belshaw Mellors of 8 Meadow Grove Meadow Lane Nottingham.

His father Henry John was born in 1873 at Holborn, London, his mother Clarice Belshaw Mellors was born in 1876 at Nottingham, they were married on 8th September 1894 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, they went on to have 8 children. sadly 3 died in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family are living at 22 Gordon Road, Nottingham, Henry 37 yrs is a leaded light glazier, he is living with his wife Clarrice 34 yrs a blouse maker and their 5 children including (John) Henry 13 yrs a scholar

Military history

Corporal John Henry Bradford enlisted at Notingham he served with the 6th battalion King's Own Scottish Borders he was killed in action on 30th September 1918, he is buried at Dadizeele New British Cemetery, Belgium
