Horace Joseph Boot was born in 1899 at Nottingham he was the son of Joseph a hosiery machinist and Mary Boot and the brother of Florence Helen Boot.

His father Joseph was born in 1869 at Manchester, his mother Mary Eliza was born in 1869 at Barnsley, they were married c1891 and had a futher children, Florence Helen born 1892 at Glasgow.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 41 Holborn Avenue Sneinton Dale Nottingham, Joseph 42 yrs is a hosiery machinist, he is living with his wife Mary 42 yrs and their children, Florence Helen 18 yrs single and is a dress maker and Horace Joseph 11 yrs a scholar.

They later moved to 72 Sneinton Dale, Nottingham. (Evening Post July 24, 1919)

Military history

Private Horace Joseph Boot enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/5th Northumberland Fusiliers, he died on 27th May 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France
