Frederick George Beresford was born on 6th December 1888 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Jabez Beresford a mason and his second wife Mary Beresford née Bosworth.
His father was born in 1843 at Belper he died in 1902 aged 59 yrs, he had married his first wife Emma West (born 1845 died 1867 aged 22 yrs ) they had a son George born 1867.
He went on to marry his second wife Mary Bosworth born 1852 Westmeath, Ireland, she died in 1915 aged 63 yrs, they were married on 27th October 1873 at St Pauls, Nottingham, they went on to have 10 children
In the 1911 census the family are living at 88 Lees Hill Street, Nottingham, Mary 59 yrs a widow is living with her children, John 32 yrs a butcher and his wife Florence 28 yrs and a further son Frederick 23 yrs a pawnbrokers assistant and a daughter Gertrude 21 yrs a german hosiery seamer.
Frederick George married Annie Walker born 7th April 1891, they were married on 11th June 1913 at St Ann's Church, they lived at 58 Ball Street, Wells Road, Nottingham they had 2 children Dorothy Lelie 21st November 1913 and Irene Gertrude born 12th November 1915.
Commencing 8th September 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence,
His widow lived at 58A, Colborn St., Wells Rd., Nottingham.
Private Frederick George Beresford enlisted on 10th December 1915 at Nottingham, giving his age as 29 yrs and 138 days, his address was 58 Ball Street, St Ann's Well Road, Nottingham, he was a pawnbrokers assitant, he served with the 620th MT Coy Army Serive Corps, he died on 4th March 1919 of influenza and pneumonia at Hampstead Military Hospital. He is buried at Nottingham General Cemetery.
