Harold Arthur Richard Wilfred Barnett was born in 1895 at Peterborough, he was the son of John a worker in an iron rolling mill and Agnes Barnett née Hall and the brother of Bernard, Nelly, Bertram, Dudley, Una and Drucilla Barnett of 38 Ena Ave, Sneinton Dale, Nottingham,

His father John Thomas was born in 1863 at Longthorpe, Northampton, his mother Agnes Mary Hall was born in 1867 at Peterborough, they were married in 1885 at Peterborough, they went on to have 12 children, sadly 3 died in infancy or early childhood.

The family moved to Nottingham around 1903

In the 1911 census the family lived at 26 Sedgley Avenue Sneinton Dale Nottingam John Thomas 48 yrs is working at an iron rolling mill, he is living with hsi wife Agnes Mary 44 yrs and their 7 children, including Harold 16 yrs a page boy.

Military history

Private Harold Barnett enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, and died of gas poisoning received during a heavy German gas bombardment at Proyart, France, 17th August 1918.
