Family history

Fred Wragg was born in 1893 at Nottingham, he was the son of William Wragg a pork butcher and Katie Dolphin Wragg née Eite of 1 Stretton Street, Union Road, St Ann's, Nottingham.

His father was born in 1857 at Nottingham his mother Kate Dolphin Eite was born in 1855 at Nottingham, they were married on 25th December 1877 at St Stephens Church, Sneinton, Nottingham, they went on to have 9 children,sadly two were to die in infancy or early childhood.

In the 1911 census the family lived at 1 Stretton Street Union Road St Ann's Nottingham William 54 yrs is a pork buther he is living with his wife Kate Dolphin 56 yrs and their children, Catherine 32 yrs a curtain folder, Percy 21 yrs a lift attendent, Frederick 18 yrs a lace warehouse packer and Elsie 15 yrs a lace machinist.

Military history

Pivate Frederick Wragg enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 16th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was reported missing on 21 March 1918 but his death was not confirmed until the following year. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial (Panel 52 to 54).

Nottingham Evening Post Roll of Honour 12 December 1919. 'WRAGG, Corporal Fred Wragg, youngest son of W and KD Wragg, reported wounded and missing March 21st 1918 now presumed killed.'
